WORKING TOGETHER

From first ideas to final flourishes

Every home is different, and so is every client. Our approach is collaborative, creative and carefully managed, allowing us to bring together beautiful ideas and the practical expertise needed to make them happen.

Here's what you can expect when working with us.

01. Getting to Know You

It all begins with a conversation. We generally start with a brief telephone call to discuss your property, your aspirations and the scope of your project.

If we feel we're a good fit, we'll arrange to visit your home. Beforehand, we'll ask you to complete a short design questionnaire. This helps us understand how you live, what you love, what isn't working and what you'd like to change.

During our visit, we'll walk through the property together, discuss your ideas and explore the possibilities. We love getting to grips with a challenge, so don't worry if you haven't worked out exactly what you want. That's part of our job.

Following the visit, we'll prepare a clear Scope of Work outlining our proposed involvement, design fees and next steps.

We specialise in projects involving two or more rooms, particularly whole-home renovations and transformations.

02. Creating Your Design

This is where the fun begins.

Once commissioned, we'll measure and photograph the relevant spaces and start developing your design.

We consider how each room works individually and how the home flows as a whole. From layouts, lighting and flooring to colours, window treatments, furniture and finishes, every element is considered as part of the bigger picture.

We typically present our initial designs within two to three weeks, depending on the project's complexity.

You'll receive a curated presentation of our ideas, supported by plans, samples and a preliminary cost spreadsheet.

We want you to feel excited, inspired and involved throughout.

03. Refining the Details

Good design is a conversation, not a one-way presentation.

We welcome your feedback and refine the schemes until we're confident they're right for you.

As the designs develop, we bring in our trusted trades and specialist suppliers to assess the work, take measurements and prepare quotations.

We produce detailed plans, elevations and specifications where required, ensuring everyone involved understands the design intent.

We'll then bring the costs together so you can review the proposed investment and make informed decisions before work begins.

04. Bringing Everything to Life

With designs approved, we turn our attention to making them happen.

We coordinate orders, suppliers, trades and installation schedules, keeping a close eye on the details that make a project run successfully.

Our established network includes skilled decorators, electricians, plumbers, carpenters, curtain makers and specialist suppliers, many of whom we've worked with for years.

We prepare detailed specifications, make regular site visits and oversee the progress and quality of the work.

We'll keep you informed throughout, using straightforward communication and shared documents so you know what's happening and when.

Renovations inevitably bring the occasional surprise. We believe the key is to anticipate problems where possible, find sensible solutions when they arise and keep the bigger picture in sight.

05. The Finishing Touches

This is the part we all look forward to.

As the work comes together, we oversee the final installations, address any outstanding details and bring in the furniture, lighting and accessories.

We style each space, making sure everything feels considered, comfortable and ready for everyday life.

From the big reveal to the final cushion, our aim is to leave you with a home that feels completely your own.

Testimonials

NSID have acted in the extensive refurbishment of our new home and thank goodness we engaged them!

As our project directors they were outstanding and dealt with everything efficiently, promptly and with maximum support for us at a difficult time.

Right from the start they had a can do attitude and their response to anything was “ I’m on it “ – and they certainly were!

Niki and Sarah's suggestions and ideas were wonderful and the fact that they sourced and arranged everything meant that it was for me a very pleasant process rather than an extremely stressful one.

I love my room now - it has been much admired by family and friends and is a really calm and pleasant space in which to relax
and socialise.

Niki created a beautiful scheme for our new house to go with existing furniture and artwork that we had brought from our previous house.

She worked with our tastes, listened to our views and supplied some beautiful furniture and soft furnishings to turn the house from someone else’s house into our home.

It felt like a big amount of work to us and would have taken us years on our own.

A Few Practical Things

Communication

We believe in keeping things clear and collaborative. We'll stay in regular contact throughout your project and make sure you're involved in the decisions that matter.

Budgets and Costs

We'll discuss your budget early in the process and provide detailed cost information as the design develops. Goods, trades and other project costs are clearly presented for your approval before commitments are made.

Timescales

Every project has its own requirements. We'll discuss realistic timescales at the outset and coordinate schedules as the work progresses. Some things, particularly bespoke pieces and specialist materials, require patience, but we'll always keep you informed.

Our Approach

We're creative thinkers, practical problem-solvers and enthusiastic collaborators. We love working with clients who value good design, trust the process and enjoy seeing their home evolve.

Our goal is simple: to make the experience enjoyable and the finished result something you'll love living with.
